Failing Sun Black Dirt Area, NY
| Description |
The "Black Dirt" area of NY (near Pine Island), is quite a unique area of the state and the US. Many years ago it was a large inland sea or lake. It is now very fertile farm land, and as the name implies, the dirt is actually a very dark black color. The area is sandwiched on one side by the Hudson Highlands, and on the other, the foothills of the Catskill Mountains.
If you catch the time of day and light at the right times, you can get some really great images. Holding the highlights AND shadows/black dirt, can be a challenge!
