First Walk
| Description |
The weather was not cooperating on the day of the wedding. It had rained heavily all morning and had finally stopped by the time the ceremony was over, but everything was still all wet and we had to look for a public location that was undercover for some pictures. We headed over to Mellon Institute, which is part of Carnegie Mellon University and where they filmed many scenes from Batman: The Dark Knight Rises. You cannot go inside, but the area by the columns is nice and still protected. I shot this with my DA35 LTD. Of course I have color versions of this for my clients, but the black and white works better with the grit on the columns. FYI - the groom did not wear a jet black tux - he picked a dark gray instead. It is not an editing mistake that his suit is not absolutely black. Also, the space between the wall and the columns is about 6 feet. There is a limit to how far you can move. There was also another wedding shooting behind me. Inclement weather often means that photographers have a limited number of protected spaces to go to that are open to the public and we run into other weddings during the busy Saturdays in the busiest months (this was July),
