I like the intention in this shot. The single highlight on the very edge of the face works well. It's a shame it isn't carried through along the arm or on the top edge of the gun. Also, the depth-of-field is too narrow, so attention is drawn away from the gun barrel, and the impact of the image is lost. Understandably you've done your best with the available ambient light, but if you were to stage this shot again, I'd suggest having a second light source (ie: remote flash with a narrow spotbeam) set up out of frame to the left of the shot, to throw a line of highlight along the top edge of the gun-barrel. A third lightsource such as a flash should be used to place white points in the hitman's eyes.

Of course, that's a lot of fiddling around with light levels and camera settings, but this is the sort of dramatic shot that would benefit from the effort.

In my opinion, the strength of this shot's intention is in it's darkness, but those few choice highlights - and a longer depth-of-field with a focus-point closer to the gun - would make this shot great!

I'd personally be inclined to tilt the shot slightly as well, to eliminate the orderly vertical lines and add that off-balance feel!

Still a nice shot. Looks like a promo-still from a movie.

Thanks alot for the comment. There actually was a second light source outside in the hall, it was a 200watt Dido on a C-Stand being used to spill just a bit on his face, I do agree with you though that if I could have had some rim some of the gun and his arm it would have helped out. All in practice Thanks again for the comment.
