Title Fishing Boat - St. Johns Harbour
Description I wanted to try this photo in B & W so it has been desaturated in Photoshop CS2. This is for the December challenge. I won't comment any further for fear I influence someones decision to make critical comments.

Jeff,
IMO, this is a very nice B&W conversion. Very pleasing to the eye with lots of detail and a wide spectrum of tones. Nicely done!

Jeff I love the shaprness of this picture. It owuld have been nice to get the whole boat in there - but I can understand that oppertunity does not alway exists. The oil containers in the upper right hand corner don;t add anything and if possible clone or mask them out. A very well focused shot.

I agree, this is a well done conversion, there could be a little more contrast for my taste, but that doesn't work well for everybody. I think that the cropping just needs to change to get this to be that much better. Either, as mentioned before, try to get the whole boat, and have some room in front for it to move through the frame, or crop it to focus on one part of the boat, so it looks more intentional, rather than that you just didn't get all the boat. For instance crop it down so it brings our focus to the windows and the part with the number on the boat. Changing the crop would make this good picture even better. Nicely done.

I like the composition of this and the level of contrast and saturation. The overall pictures is somewhat cluttered but that the way docks really are like. In my opinion it does keep the interest.
