I still think your shots are too dark.

Try this page and see if you tablet is set up right.... --> http://www.photofriday.com/calibrate.php

Yes, but one of the problems is that the Photo Friday calibration tool gives entirely different results to the Windows 7 monitor calibration tool, which gives different results from the other tool that I used to use years ago but forget what it was called. In truth, using a picture on a monitor in order to calibrate that same monitor seems rather flawed as a procedure. The only real way to calibrate is by using an external standard, such as a spider, or as a cheap option, one of those multi-colour cards that you photograph then compare the card against the monitor display.

I have recalibrated using Photo Friday and now Windows 7 says it is very noticeably wrong...

Oh well, I will try it at this level, it is a compromise between the 2 which makes the screen both too dark but too contrasty, I expect it's more ecological, ha ha.

Also, the point of focus is on the back of the basket rather than the mandarins. Makes me wonder where I should be looking.

Yep, it is a real desperation snap because I was totally lacking in inspiration or even motivation today. Mea Culpa.

I am working at the Gingko Uni again tomorrow, hopefully I will find something more worthwhile to shoot there.
