Stag in the Rutting Season

On a remote peninsula in Scotland, Ardnamurchan, we were driving along late in the day when we saw this young stag with his harem by the side of the road. When we stopped he looked directly at us as if to dare us to come any closer. The picture was taken quickly with a zoom lens at 170mm and was quite heavily cropped to the size shown here. Picture taken on 6 October 2014.
