The Religious Sculptures of Pasta de Caña de Maiz are an important legacy of the Purépechas of the Lake Pátzcuaro Region in Michoacán. Standing out in the Religious Art of New Spain, a fundamental part of Colonial Art in Hispanic America and a sample of Mexican sculpture at that time, which used this prehispanic technique unique in the world.
In Mexico we find very representative and venerated images that are made in Pasta de Caña by Artisans of the Lacustrine Region in colonial times. In Michoacán we can mention the Virgen de la Salud of Patzcuaro (Century XVI)
