After spending the afternoon in Golden, I went to Dazzle Jazz Club in Denver for the evening to hear The Three Keys - local keyboardists Eric Gunnison (on piano), Jeff Jenkins (on synthesizers), and Pat Bianchi (on organ), accompanied by Paul Romaine on drums. The background behind the stage is a large mural, and the lines and angles seemed to mimic some of those on-stage. I caught Paul in a movement that itself seemed to mimic that of painting. Jazz musicians sometimes refer to the role of the cymbals as being coloring the sound; here, that almost appears to be literally true.
