Title Arenal Volcano
Description This is Arenal Volcano, located in northern Costa Rica. This is an old picture but one of my best from this site. Shot with my trusty (now retired) Pentax IQ90WR with Kodak ASA 800 negative film. The bluish cast on the sky was from the moon (full moon night). Scanned directly from negative.

Exposure was using B mode + IR remote. No tripod. Placed the camera on car's roof with a towel to hold it still. Exposure was about 30 seconds.

Is there anything in the world cooler than volcanoes?

OK, maybe squid with laser rifles, or Formula race cars, but volcanoes still rank up in the top of "things that are totally cool."

The picture was technically almost perfect as well. Nice exposure on a notoriously difficult subject, under less-than-ideal circumstances, and what you've done with it is nice, too.

Did you do any other post besides inverting the negative? It's a 5 star either way.

Arenal Volcano

No PP here. Its full frame scan from negative (using Minolta Dimage II film scanner). Interesting enough, the bluish cast was achieved ONLY with the negative scan. No conventional printing (lab) got it, probably because the picture is so unusual (dark, almost monochromed) it through out the color analysers in the minilab. A friend even tried to do a pro enlargement but he only got murky results from the sky.
