Madhu
| Description |
A portrait of my late companion, Madhu, taken in the spring of 2002 shortly before her death. A real sweetie, and I should probably be honest and say that she wasn't so much my cat as I was her human!
You can't see in this photo, but she was fitted with a gastric tube (one of the first cats ever treated with this technique) because of a complete kidney failure. Although she was no longer able to eat, we kept her alive for two years through tube feeding with a blend of soft foods and 17 herbs and Chinese medicines which we developed together with Dr. Bradley Dobos, a practitioner of Tibetan medicine who lives on Orcas Island in the San Juans.
