Title T-6 Heritage Flight
Description Heritage flight of T-6 Texan lineage. The aircraft on the left is a 1940's vintage T-6 while the one on the right is the modern "reincarnated" version called the T-6 Texan II.

The T-6 Texan was flown extensively as a trainer during World War II. Students generally started primary training in a Stearman bi-plane and advanced to aerial combat training in the T-6 before transitioning to their front-line fighter. After the war, the Texan continued to be used through Korea and was officially retired in the late 1950's. Other countries continued to use the trainer. South Africa was the last to use the original T-6 who retired it in 1996.

In modern day, Rayethon designed a new advanced trainer and called it the T-6 Texan II in honor of the original trainer workhorse. The Texan II is a turboprop aircraft with excellent handling capabilities. It comes equipped with dual ejection seats and a cockpit that resembles that of a modern jet fighter such as the F-15.

Taken in May of 2006.
