This was my No. 1 lens for films. It replaced my M-Series 20mm f/4, which I also loved, but I really wanted f/2.8. I love this focal length and I love this lens. They'll bury me with this one.
CA very well controlled (even compared to current lenses).
People are generally blown away by the perspective and the sharpness, contrast, and color rendition of this lens. Sharp corner to corner. Blow it up to 16X20!
Foreground! Amazing hyper-focal DOF at f/8 - f/16. Flare very well controlled: Critical on this kind of FL. I don't miss a lens-hood -- I'm old-school, I always just used my hand.
Great for indoors shots and low-light conditions. f/2.8 allows Kodachrome 64 star-trails! http://www.berettaconsulting.com/barbarossa/WT_Big_Show/04%20New%20Zealand/W...%20Zealand.jpg Some scanned KR64: http://www.berettaconsulting.com/barbarossa/WT_Big_Show/04%20New%20Zealand/W...%20Zealand.jpg http://www.berettaconsulting.com/barbarossa/Miscellaneous/Misc_10-Mar-10/Lsc...7%20Nevada.jpg http://www.berettaconsulting.com/barbarossa/Landscape/France%2097%20Gigondas%20Vines.jpg http://www.berettaconsulting.com/barbarossa/Landscape/France%2097%20Glanum%20Columns.jpg http://www.berettaconsulting.com/barbarossa/Landscape/France%2097%20Stony%20Vineyard.jpg http://www.flickr.com/photos/jim_blilie_photo/4650610389/in/set-72157623970607501 http://www.berettaconsulting.com/barbarossa/WT_Big_Show/05%20Australia/WT%20...0Australia.jpg http://www.berettaconsulting.com/barbarossa/WT_Big_Show/04%20New%20Zealand/W...%20Zealand.jpg http://www.berettaconsulting.com/barbarossa/WT_Big_Show/04%20New%20Zealand/W...%20Zealand.jpg http://www.berettaconsulting.com/barbarossa/Utah_96/1996-04%20Utah%20Trip%20204.jpg http://www.berettaconsulting.com/barbarossa/Utah_96/1996-04%20Utah%20Trip%20...e%20Canyon.jpg http://www.berettaconsulting.com/barbarossa/Utah_96/1996-04%20Utah%20Trip%20...e%20Canyon.jpg

Pros: | Sharp, No visible distortion, no flare with correct hood. | Cons: | rare | | Great Lens. Usable at any F-stops, for close objects can use wide open with great result. For landscape daytime optimum is F8, in darkness from 2.8 till 5.6, also in bulb mode excellent results up to F11. Also using it on Canon body - Fantastic Colors and Resolution. Some corner color fringing easily removing by any software. In photoshop only check all edges - thats it. Very little distortion.

Pros: | Small, Sharp, Manual | Cons: | None | | Sharp from f2.8 and real good on f8-f11. Use it on crop K7 Body and
with adapter on Canon 5D full frame. Full frame shows more resolution
and better borders on f8 compared with f8 on cropped body.
Overall very good lens. Much better than Canon or Nikon 20mm primes.

Pros: | small, quite sharp | Cons: | low contrast | | It is small, cute lens. Quite sharp from f2.8 and better from f8. It has low contrast. I compared it with DA12-24 & K20D and it looks A20 is better at f8 on borders. With strong sun light it gives low contrast.
Overall good wide lens for APS-C.

Pros: | Crispy sharp, good detail and color redition, low distortion | Cons: | A little expensive | | It is one of my favorite lenses. I always use it with 1.6X DSLR and then the focal length becomes approximately 35mm. It is very useful lens delivering impressive picture quality.
Although it is equipped with B+W UV filter, I found no flare or ghost light when I shoot silhouette or night shot with many lights at the background. Therefore, I don't think I want to get lens hood for it. | |

Pros: | Super sharp corner to corner | Cons: | Lens hood rare and expensive | | One of my truly most enjoyable lenses. I used it on film where it seemed almost too wide for my needs, but it has been a comfortable friend on my digital body.
If you ever find the hood for the lens I highly recommend getting it. It is not only a useful accessory it makes this lens look super great.

Pros: | fast, sharp, uses comonly available filters, low distortion | Cons: | expensive, impossible to find second hand | | I tested this lens side by side against the 20 f/4 M, expecting the modest f/4 to be better optically.... The 20 f/2.8 absolutely KILLED it , much to my surprise . Being a wide angle freak, this is pretty well my standard lens
