Pros: Fast for a 1957 lens
Cons: Vignetting on 24x36

I would not have expected such quality from a simple doublet lens. It suffers from some vignetting on 24x36 at the greatest apertures. Good for sunsets. Bokeh seems to be interesting. This is a rack and pignon focusing system lens, that allows a quick focus when you are used to this system. The rear part is removable.
I would not recommend it to a user because the 500/4.5 is not extremely expensive compared to it and is slightly better, but if you can get it for, let's say, $300 or less, this can be a good solution.

Pros: fast, strong construction
Cons: heavy, wobbly sunshade

Just recently purchased this, no chance to use in detail. One real surprise here is this did some daylight shots hand-held with 100 ASA film (the analog kind!). The fast speed allows lots of lattitude in depth of field. Somewhat stiff focusing, although I prefer that.
