| | I thought this lens was bigger, but it is just like one of those Leica pancakes. It is almost difficult to use because of the smallness. However, it is a great lens. Once you learn to preset the aperture, then focus and stop down to the chosen aperture, you get wonderful photos. I will be posting some. I now have my complete Asahiflex lens collection, yes, all four of them. Well, I am not interested in the 5th one, too long!

DIGITAL SAMPLES
Here are some samples wide open (f/3.5) and at f/8. You judge them. I did not find any leakage of light on the new digital cameras. I did some test and placed a thick rubber band at the joint and did not get any leaks. | | I've only had this lens for 2 days, but I was astonished at its performance. It's tiny, which is both good and bad. You don't mind taking it with you because it takes up very little space. It's 1.5"deep (including the mount) by 1.8" in diameter. But its small size makes it a little difficult to operate, mostly the aperture setting, which is set by turning the very front of the lens to your preset setting, and that's only an 1.25" in diameter. It's not heavy, but it does have some heft to it for its small size. I feel I got it at a bargain as it is in very good condition. It came with the leather case, which was in outstanding condition for its age, the M37-M42 adapter ring and an M42- PK mounting adapter. It did come with caps but not the original caps. Excellent Takumar build quality. Love the 12 blade aperture.
I found the lens to be very sharp with only the extreme edges and corners being a little soft at f5.6. Here are a few examples.

Pros: | Tiny and light lens | Cons: | Slow | | Even being one of the oldest Pentax lenses, this lens has good qualities. Optically, it is very similar to the Industar 50-2 50/3.5, I compared them and did not notice any difference apart from the parture blades (7 on the russian, 12 on the japanese). Stronger built than the russian one (160g vs. 100g). It has the typical Tessar signature.
