| | Most lenses go on the camera. The camera goes on this lens. I would say it is razor sharp, but that would be an insult to the lens. I took several pictures of the moon shortly after purchasing. The sharpness of the lens is more than my camera (12.2 MP) can even resolve. Enlarging the photo, detail was only lost to pixelation. See for yourself below! CA is acceptable and easily fixed in Photoshop. It is somewhat heavy (though manageable), so a sturdy tripod will be needed. It also has a relatively long minimum focusing distance of 100ft/30m, but a shorter lens would probably be more appropriate at this distance anyway. I wouldn't recommend it for street photography; it attracts a lot of attention. Overall, this beast of a lens is worth every penny!

Pros: | Extreme narrow angle of view | Cons: | Minimal focusing distance | | The biggest Takumar lens for 24x36 is a keeper for all sunset pictures : when rightly used, you will be able to take great pictures. I use it handheld but if you are not used to use long and heavy telephotos lenses, you will need a strong tripod (more than 6kg with an APS-C body fitted at the rear) if you have not the original one. I have the Tele-Takumar version, with two dents in the front element, and even with that, I'm not facing heavy flare situations.
The rack and pignon focusing system is a bit odd, but when you get used to it, it is not a problem anymore, as it allows a quick and light focusing even with this behemoth. I would like to have a better minimal focusing distance : 30 meters is looong. The lens goes a bit beyond infinity (it is normal).

| Just wanted to know where you would look to determine how many lenses were manufactured?
Thanks
