A nice lens but it's not sharp at f1.4 and is otherwise the same as a half-the-price 50mm "M" series F1.7. It's also bigger and heavier so it's more to carry around.


I suppose this kind of lens suits the folks who genuinely believe that any number less than F2 marks an improved optical quality and there for feel justified in spending more cash for the privilege. That's not a universal rule, and it's not with this lens.


f5.6 and f8 render neat images at infinity with nice sharpness. f2.8 to f8 give nice close up results.


Lovely coatings will appeal to those who think dreamy and trippy coating colours improve imaging.
