Latest Review Posted | SMC Pentax-M 28mm F3.5 There's a lot of choice for vintage 28mm primes even if you stick to Pentax.
I found samples on this forum to my taste and for the cost thought this was worth a whirl.
Build quality is typcial M series and it is a pleasure to use.
I really like the rendering, output is quite recognisable.and gives a fine sense of depth or dimension.
I think somebody else mentioned that they like it for B&W, I concur.
I find it usable wide-open, that cannot be said for some of the 2.8s it competes with and I do not find the slightly slower aperture a hindrance to focussing.
CA is largely absent but I have found using it in evening light can throw a camera's auto WB (I've seen the similar with the M 100mm), obviously correctable in PP.
If I didn't have the Pentacon 30mm I'd probably use this far more. I wouldn't pack them in the same camera bag but feel that this lens offers something different enough to keep and use when the mood take me. Again I really like this type of focal length for APS-C as a wideish normal. |
