This lens has produced some absolutely stunning images for me. I mean some real keepers. This is my first 1.4 lens so I may not be used to having that large of an aperture. However, with that said, when this lens focuses correctly, it is sharp as a tack. The autofocus seems a little slow, and it can be a little frustrating to get moving kids in focus. That may also be partly my fault because I am inexperienced shooting at those larger apertures. I hope to update this post in another year once I have more experience. I love the bokeh and the portrait qualities in this lens. I have been waiting for some time to get this lens and overall it has not disappointed. I am very pleased with how this lens renders skin tones.
EDIT: It is now about 9 months later. I just want to update that I have fallen more in love with this lens! This lens makes me look like a much better photographer than I really am. Anyhow, still no regrets with this lens. I know that 30 years from now, the keepers that I get with the lens will remind me that it was well worth the money. |
