Latest Review Posted | SMC Pentax-M 50mm F1.4 The first lens I've bought after I got my K20D kit. Almost perfectly mint (was in store for many years) for the equivalent of 75USD.
It is a pleasure to handle, smoother than my 35/2 and 150/3.5 (both also M lenses) and 1.4 is fast, very fast - and I can pull many well exposed dim light hand-held shots (thank you pentax for in-body shake reduction).
On the down-side - it is a very difficult lens to handle while open. Consider buying a new focusing screen with this lens (and other fast manual lenses). It is soft (but usable) at f1.4 and becoming really razor sharp only at f4.0.
Consider the 50/1.7 which is cheaper, lighter and will probably provide the same usability (some say it is even a bit sharper). |
