Latest Review Posted | SMC Pentax-FA 50mm F1.4 I love having a fast 50 prime - so it's the one lens that aways accompanies my camera and whatever zoom is on the camera. For me the biggest advantage of this lens is the speed... I'm not a fan of flash photography, and this lens allows me to take photos at parties, dinners and family gatherings without ruining the natural atmosphere with flash. The lens is small and compact, but a bit plastic-fastic. Autofocus is noisy and accurate as long as you know what you're doing @ 1.4. Extra care is required @ 1.4. I wanted to purchase the 55 SDM - put there was just no way for me to justify the added cost versus the benefit, and honestly I think the 55 focused slower (although quietly). If you're considering getting a 50 - this a good one to get. There are many in good shape on the used market - and it's a useful and super sharp compact piece of glass in your kit once you get above F2. |
