Latest Review Posted | SMC/S-M-C/Super-/Auto-/Takumar 55mm F1.8 I've had this lens a few months ago when I picked up a Spotmatic.. I thought of selling it at first because I already have a 50mm f/1.4 which I use with my Canon 60D, but I decided to just keep it and I was never wrong with my decision..
The Takumar 55mm f/1.8 produces sharp images and with its fast aperture it is also good in low light and bokeh.. Focusing is easy even at f/1.8 and I don't notice any chromatic aberations in any of my photos taken with it.. And with my Canon 60D's 1.6 crop factor, this lens is equivalent to 88mm in full frame, just imagine having an 88mm f/1.8 lens for about $30.. It's great for portrait and DSLR video!
I am a big Takumar fan and this lens is one of the reasons why.. Compared to the 50mm f/1.4, this lens is a lot cheaper but produces images that is almost as good as what the 50mm f/1.4 does.. I think this is one of the most underrated lenses.. I would never trade this for a modern autofocus plastic lens.. |
