Latest Review Posted | SMC Pentax-Q 08 Wide Zoom 3.8-5.9mm F3.7-4 I don't claim much experience with WA lenses but I can agree with all the good things said in previous reviews. I have no "Yes, but..." critical comments to add.
I've shot with the Sigma 10-20's, the Tamron 10-24 and the DA 16-45 -- this one is at least the equal for IQ.
But to really appreciate this lens you have to place it in context with the Q- bodies. It is simply gonna BE THERE when any of my other APS-C DSLRs and WA lenses would have been too burdensome to bother with.
It packs light and small enough to be with you when nothing else in that FL range would fit. Adding the 01, 03 and 06 for a full system kit doesn't take up the space of a really good sandwich in a fanny-pack.
The price seems high at first but it shouldn't because the results you'll get in the field match any of the better WA lenses available IMLE.
I screwed up the other day - thought I had either the DA 18-135 or the AF SP 70-200 with me. Turned out to be the DA*300 prime and the Q7+08 saved the day. |
