i didn't have this for long. i got it before i knew there were 2 versions of the 2.5. this is not coated and you can rest your head at night on the images i got from it at f2.5. it did sharpen up somewhat at f8+ but i had gotten for it's wide aperture. it's a nice looking lens if your are a collector.

i love this lens. contrast and sharpness is very good thru out the range. it's built like a tank and you can tell that just by holding it. it's one of my favorite lenses especially at the zoo. i'd give it a 10 except for the creep and no tripod collar.

had this one for 29 years and never had a bad shot due to the lens. works Great reversed also. only reason for an 8 is that it could be better wide open. it's a true work horse.

i find this lens to have a good degree of sharpness thru out it's range, even wide open. the 8 rating is because it's just a tad under the A70-210 f4. if weight is a consideration then i'd highly recommend this over the 70-210. i've also seen that there were 2 versions of this lens. the ratings say get the smaller of the 2 as this one is. 65mm, dia. & 142mm length. i've never had a bad pic with this lens.

found this lenses in a used camera. it had been really abused. horrible scratches and pits in the front lens. a little water damage to the aperture. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f269/btrnt/_IGP5999.jpg i had my DS with me and took a few shots. i was back the next day and purchased it. i had it cleaned by a pro inside and out for $15 and since i was not going to worry about lens protection i sold the filter for $22. i've been happy with it so far. with all the abuse that this lens has had it still shoots this good.. IQ starts breaking down above f8. however that is due to the damage. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v37/btrescue/IMGP2276.jpg

This is a very sharp, fast lens. contrast is also very good. it's real nice shooting at f4.5 but stop it down to f8-16 and it's superb.. it's definately a tripod only lens at 8+pounds and 20'' long. This review is based on use of the lens with the K-mount adapter.
