M35/2.8 is one of those quiet performers that nobody seems to rave about. It is a solid performer. It is sharp enough wide open and very sharp by f4. Very good contrast. That said, it doesn't seem to have any point that "stands out", everything seems to be in the good to very-good area but no one single outstanding point. So if you are looking for a good solid, no non-sense performer, I can recommend M35/2.8. By the way I have only used this lens on dSLR.

M150/3.5 is a very compact and nice lens. It is just a little bigger than the M100/2.8 and it has a built-in metal hood. Construction-wise it is just like all other M series lenses I have, very solid but not as heavy as the K series lenses. The lens is quite sharp wide open and very sharp at f4. On top of that, you get very nice bokeh. The only "negative" thing I can think of is its focal length. It is too close to 135mm for my liking. I find myself grabbing either my K135/2.5 or FA135/2.8 more often (faster). And if I need something longer, I seem to reach for my M200/4 (even though I think M150/3.5 might be a little sharper than M200/4).

I bought this lens after reading quite a few very positive comments about it and I wasn't disappointed at all. Wide-open performance is really good and sharp and its color is typical of the old manual focus lenses which I prefer (I don't really like the more vibrant, more saturated images that you seem to get with the DA lenses, just a personal preference). The built of the lens is very very good (fully metal?), coupled that with a 15 elements of glasses in it, you end up with a heavy lens (615g). The reason I sold the lens has nothing to do with its performance. Apart from a little too heavy as a walk-around lens, personally I prefer a push-n-pull (one-touch) zoom lenses (eg A70-210/f4). And 35mm isn't really wide enough on a digital body. But if you are looking for a walk-around lens on a film body and don't mind the weight, I don't think you can find a better manual focus lens with a constant aperture from Pentax than this one.

At one stage, I had A70-210/4, F70-210/4-5.6, and DA50-200/4-5.6 in my possession and here is what I think: Performance-wise (image quality, color rendering, etc): A70-210 > F70-210 >= DA50-200 Portability DA50-200 > F70-210 > A70-210 Even though F70-210 is lighter than A70-210, the weight distribution of the F70-210 is front-element heavy making holding camera level a little tricky. Another thing with F70-210 is that the autofocus is quite noisy and the lens "throttles" when it is hunting for focus. I don't find any sharpness issue with this lens at all. If you are deciding between the above 3 lenses, the F70-210 is actually a very good compromise if you prefer the images you get with old glass rather than the new DA lenses.

This compact lens is sharp wide-open and very sharp by f5.6. I also used to own an A28/2.8 too but I have sold that because I found that the color coming out of the A28 is a little washed out and low in contrast, when compared to the M28/3.5. Not too sure if I had a lemon though. I have acquired a FA28/2.8 about half year ago but I am still yet to be conviced to sell the M28/3.5. I am not saying the FA28/2.8 is bad or anything, it is just that the M28/3.5 is such a good performer.
