Well first off let me just say how I do not use takumar glass for photography. I fell in love with them when I started doing Timelapses. Well over the years I use them for Stereoscopics, timelapse, filming, video, etc. I love these lenses! I've shot them side by side with cinema glass ten times more expensive and they can hold their own. I own about 60 lenses and my collection is ever growing. However, out of those lenses only a handful I turn to when I need the great quality I am looking for or my clients expect. The 15mm 3.5 S-M-C is the lens that holds up the best against other brands like Super speeds, Cookes etc. Anyways Its focus throw is nice for a super wide angle, the color is my Favorite. When applying a rec 709 its almost too colorful because something about the old coatings just make the color pop and give it a nice 3D effect. I have the same lens everyone one does, I don't know if that 2nd model even exists because I've never seen it. I actually have two of these lenses. The first one I got had the smallest of small scratches on the front element and I am a perfectionist so I got another one that was in great condition. There is some dust inside the front element and I could not figure out how to get those two elements apart to fix. Maybe ill try to send it off somewhere. Anyways enough talking here is a video I shot with it and the proof is in that. https://vimeo.com/155453932

I know I might seem real positive, I think I got lucky. I own almost 1 of every takumar and this is the best condition lens I have got. I found a bran new one un opened 40 some years old and perfect. Original case, caps hood, and everything. I know others said the first variant is not that sharp but mine is. I checked it against my other 2 135s 3.5 takumars. and seems good. soon I will have the actual line counts in. But mine seems good so far but you never know until the results are in. Now all i need is that extremely 15mm hmmm :)

This is a great lens. Has CA wide open, But not very noticeable after f8, I'll try to post some photos up. Everyphoto I take is with takumars so check out my photography site. :)

I was surprised to find out I actually like the super takumar version best.. The SMC one does not have the same kind of blades inside. So i like the bokeh of the super tak one most. ill post up a shot when I get one showing the unique bokeh. (Non working link removed)

First off let me say I have 3 Super takumars. Just different ones i've picked up on craigslist over the years. Like I got one with a ME pentax camera, one with a bunch of lenses and one from the family. Anyways I never knew there were different kinds of takumar 50mm out there. But I always preferred this one out of all mine. Never knew why. Always wondered why it wasn't yellow like the others. Now that I looked into it I found out that this is the old version. It also has less focus breath then the other 50mms. Hope that helps. I love this one the most out of all my taks. Even more then my 24mm. It could be sharper, but it is not far behind the other lenses I tested from takumar at those focal lengths the sharpest being the 55mm smc f2.. weird I know. Would never have guessed.
