this lens are similar to regular DA 18-55, but WR - dust and weather resistant. it is mean, that You can use it than raining or in dust environment without doubt. the lens perform better at f/6.3-8. at 55 mm/5.6 it has to low resolution, also as 18 mm/3.5. better resolution at 35 mm/6.3 or f/8. for the price 56 USD used it is perfect for not to friendly environment.

PROS: 1- after AF adjustment it is sharp wide open (f/1.9-2) and very sharp from f/2.8. at f/1.9 it is sharper than my DA 40/2.8 stopped down to f/4. 2- fast enough, I can use it wide open at f/1.9 instead at the past I was needed to stop-down my DA 40 to the f/3.2-f/4 to get SO sharp image. Almost 2 full stops faster (in terms of IQ, not the exposition) 3- very nice and smooth bokeh. previous bokeh from DA 40/2.8 was not always good enough. 4- front cover attached on the very compact hood. CONS: 1- no Q-shift (it is known, but this option is very useful at DA lens), it is not really issue. 2- not to fast AF, but fast enough. Yes, it is slower than DA 40, but only in comparison. this lens will replace my DA 40/2.8 and DA 50/1.8. 1 lens instead of 2.

it is very good lens. very nice and high IQ. quite noisy AF, but... for it's price... it is made of plastic, but feels solid and robust. even a lens hood no so much necessary. I own one of them and second one purchased for my father.

it is a perfect lens. colors, sharpness from f/2.8 wide opened to f/22 closed are best. AF is good, if You not shooting from closest distance to infinite every time. in some predictable range AF as fast as possible to be at 100 mm lens. vzic! - and done. very clearly focusing at short ranges and even not AF correction was needed. also there is some very good point - lens hood is mounted at lens body, so moving element not loaded. at the body able to attach hoods, ring flashes or light modifiers - without doubt about moving components.

it is a "standard" zoom. for usual indoor or travel situations. f/2.8-4.5 enough and useful. sharpness is good, better slightly stopped-down. bokeh-bla-bla-bla... - it is just a tiny pocket lens. for 1.5 hundred dollars. AF little slower, than 01 prime 8.5mm, but little slower - just in comparison, it is fast enough. MF are best and classic zoom ring to. why not 10 points? it is good, not perfect. it is good lens on good Pentax-Q body. with 01 lens is perfect set for Q body.

it is very good lens for Q cameras. it is all-time on the camera ( also I have a 02 zoom 5-15mm) very fast AF, just as SLR do, or even faster :) very sharp even from f/1.9 :) but maximum sharpness at f/3.2 usually i'm using any f/stops without doubts. manual focus ring are best. has a big distortion, but in-camera JPG correct it automatically, or in RAW converter just add a some correction. it is not a real CONS, just need to know it. may be real cons it a quiet long close-up focusing distance, but 12MP image possible to crop, so... I want Q-20mm f/2, or even f/1.4.

Yes - it has fast AF, as usual at DA Lim lens Yes - it is very compact lens with also compact shade. Yes - it is enough wide for usual indoor-tide room-landscape shooting. enough - it is mean that 15mm I do not need. Yes - it is has a good colors ets... Yes, it is sharp - but even it is wide angle lens, distant and near objects are not to easy to fall into DOF, if lens are wide open. at close-up, (f/4) child face at 3/4 from 0.3m distance and focusing on the eye, near ear and distant eye are also out-of-focus! I mean - it is sharp (!) wide-angle-lens, and focusing are critical. UPD - after some time of use this lens I need to NOTE: the lens are very sensitive to focusing. if focusing are perfect - image very sharp and has nigh resolution. even at f/3.2 I did calibrate auto-focusing on the body (K-30) and after most that shots are near perfect. also - remember about DOF. for 16MP bodies DOF are very narrow.

It was my second zoom after TAMRON 28-50, and tamron was not to good. I was Using is for short period on the ME-super and was upgraded it for M35-70/2.8-3.5 only because last one was faster. 35-70/2.8-3.5 also has a better sharpness. other all it is a good-enough lens, compatible (now) with DSLR because it has an Auto mode of aperture ring.

at film camera it is day-to-day lens. fast (2.8-3.5), also looks great :o little wider and little telephoto, than 50mm primer lens. pump action is easy to use. still have it, but not using, because has another lens more suitable for DSLR K-30, and stop using my film cameras. If You need MF fast short zoom - it is You're choice.

good lens, with ME-super is very light kit to travel. sharp and easy-to-use. Little slow? yes, but at the day light You never open more than f/5.6. this lens is not for "bokeh-hunters", but for travel and indoor it is great. I was sold it last month, because now I'm using only DSLR K-30, and obtain auto-focus DA40Lim instead. there is a BIG pros for M40 and DA40Lim - so small lenses not "scaring" children and other peoples, they never taken seriously so small lens and filling free and naturally. only one thing - for my big hand tiny focusing ring is to thin :o but in any case - it is a very good lens.

about a cost, 50USD, it is mean, that without the lens camera body at 50 USD cheaper. lens is not bad at all, for it's price it has an 18 mm wide angle at f/3.5, but some distortion is present. HAS NOT quick-shift - it is big loose, and plastic bionet, but plastic is hard and strong. has not a lens hood, but fully compatible lens hood possibly to obtain separately for some small amount of USD. Lens hood can to be attached at reverse position on the lens for more compact storage dimension, I was using it only than obtain it with camera (is was mi first AF lens), until purchasing the FA 35-80/3.5-5.6, and ones after that, as wide angle lens at tight room. I still hold it, because wide angle is needed time to time. If You has not any AF lens and purchasing You're first DSLR, bye it as a kit, 50USD is not a big price for universal 18-55 lens. for some application, as a budget save lens it is good thing. for start kit lens it is useful, but than You obtain something better, You will using it less frequently. IMHO - zoom ring such a big diameter, make Lens to be "fat", not like this.

it is "just-a-50mm-lens", not expensive, but not cheep. good for film and printing up to 24x30 (cm), I was using it several years and was happy.it is my first Pentax lens. but for DSLR it is just not bad, boring, I think. It also has not an A-mode for aperture ring dial, so not fully compatible with DSLR. but possible to use, as ALL Pentax lenses. it is not bad, it is "JUST" 50 mm lens. better to try A50/1.7, but more money to spend....

from the "100-300" zooms this lens is a best, I think. it is 80-320, little wider, little longer, F/5.6... if You have FA 35-80/3.5-5.6 it will be consistent not expensive (budget) set at FF, for crop possible to use "kit" 18-55 if wide angle is needed. as I say before - not expensive (F/5.6) good AF, good-filling touch. compact enough, when retarded... real cons only round hood is needed, and not to much easy to obtain one deep enough, but I am using short one (20mm) - it is Ok. for using as long telephoto zoom time-to-time, some birding or something else is good, very good.

wide angle at FF, slightly wide (EFL 42mm) at crop (K-30) has an A-setting of aperture dial ring, so fully compatible with DSLR. using it for indoor or open-space outdoor. overall not complaints. images has very good quality, sharpness and nice-enough bokeh. i think from K-KA manual 28mm lens it is one of the best. using it often, with no doubt.

on the crop it is like 50-120, my usual FL. light (plastic) construction VERY fast AF, just kick-n-catch. very sharp, even for some fixed-FL lens. highly recommended if lens longer than "kit" needed. it is more better, sharper, than DA 18-55 yes, it is "slow", F5.6, but 14 USD!!! using 35 mm round lens hood... I love it and using even owned DA40 and DA70 lim lens.

excellent portrait lens at FF, allow You do not put the lens into the face, than shooting face-portrait. fast (F/2.8) and built-in hood just pleasure to work with. use-full from wide open (f/2.8) and from f/4 are best. at K-30 fully compatible (at "A" position of the aperture dial ring), nice for portrait too, but more longer, than at FF. nice to, possible to stay far from model, than shooting only eyes. I still like it a lot.

using DA40Lim as "normal", every day lens. sharp, fast focus, very compact... may be little nervous bokeh, if it has reflects, but it was known before purchasing EFL = 60 mm, nice indoor for "in the interior" shooting, not too close single or group portraits too. just instead 50mm on the film. also have DA21Lim, so 21-40-70 with they compact sizes is my triple-kit.

compact lens gives Cristal clear images, sharpness is also fantastic. 70mm on the 1.5 crop is 105 FL equivalent. I like it, it is my primary lens. also so small lens do not scare peoples and children, instead of BIG and long zooms and telephoto-lens. they are filling free and easy. make possible to print pictures bigger than 30x45 (cm). I also own DA 40 Lim and dream about "DA 100 Lim f/2" in same form-factor.
