Views: 199311 Reviews: 40 this is my absolute bargain. it was dirty and must be cleaned intensively. so the japanees dealer packed it without costs to a nearly new K-x set at 150 dollars.:lol:.Okay the housing is not a winner, but lens elements are clear. impressive optical qualities ! with a socciore 1.8x high definition tele converter on the top of the lens 5.8/540 mm are available . wow !!! ++ between f 9 and f 13 phantastic sharpness so CAs are neglectable, even for close ups. my 4.7-5.8/100-300 was even very good, but this lens is still a few better and really of very high value ! the ED fluorite lens makes the difference very highly recommended ! :) full points !

Views: 137101 Reviews: 7 This lens is very similar to the TAKUMAR A lens (12/9 elements,too) :confused: MY TIP FOR YOU: The resolution is by approx 85 LP/mm = 170 black and white lines - this is a professional value (with 20-24 MP, naturally, not with 10 or 16 MP) - my cameras are all programmed to highest sharpness and contrast. I've self made a test pin wall of 40 x 60 cm with very fine graphics and extreme fine lines - much more smaller than EAN codes. Test institutes with their ratings are not totally reliable because of obvisious sponsoring of some brands, unfortuntely..:mad: A lens shaws its capacities especially by close ups. Far distant SIEMENS stars can show only raw CAs. And test photos with dark parts, sky or water - as often shown - are saying nothing about sharpness or CAs in the corners. :o +++ the resolution of this lens for APS-C sensor ist phantastic (similar to a single lens) - stopped down a few to f 6.3, naturally. ++ scarecely CA visble only 1/2 pixel :lol: ++ AF goes very exact with 1.7 x AF converter (very rare to find) :fedup: ++ with converter 70 LP = 140 black and white lines resoluted - this is a few below PENTAX 1.4/50 M single lens in same constellation. + few flare against the light ++ very sharp macro photos possible with achromatic diopter element on the top. :) totally 9.5 points from me - because its outstanding sharpness as a zoom lens.:)

An excellent vintage Pentax lens ! :):):) +++ no distorsion ++ razor sharp (85 LP/mm are a professional value with 24 MP sensor) ++ high contrast ++ nice color rendition + very small CAs sometimes visible by big magnification (have all macro lenses in bokeh) MY TIP 1 FOR YOU: I'm using an additional small macro tube of 12mm self made with an integrated achromate lens element of a binocular 8x30. The sharpness increases to 100 LP/mm and no more CAs are visible. Afterwards you'll get a 3.5/85 mm macro with 7/4 elements with extreme sharpness (ZEISS or LEICA level at a low price). Try it. MY TIP 2 FOR YOU: Try to get a Sioccore High Definition 1.8x top tele conveter (5/3 elements). With adapter rings from 52mm to 58mm you'll get a fantastic 4/180 mm macro rele lens with 10/6 elements (only for APSC !) :fedup: ((lower judgements as 10/9 or 9/8 points have got perhaps a monday production)) :o ??? There is no difference in results between MINOLTA 4/100 and PENTAX 4/100 had demonstrated Stiftung Warentest, Germany (for all Pentax haters) :lol: only an expensive ZEISS macro lens or the famous TOKINA 2.5/90 are a few better.

Views: 270396 Reviews: 70 This 4/4 elements TAKUMAR is an excellent portrait lens, very well corrected :):):) ++ very high value at an affordable price ++ very good sharpness ++ high contrast, stopped down a few ++ very good color rendition + nice bokeh at f 5.6 O small CAs wide open +++++++++++++++++++++ FOR ASTRO SHOOTINGS :eek::eek::eek: you'll need - because of the light pollution of the cities - highest contrast in program and menu filters! For pictures of ORION f 2.5 and 1 sec. with ISO 6.400 will be okay, but for photos of the 7 stars you must change to f 11 and 1 sec. with ISO 52.200 or use the PENTAX astro tracer with lower ISO. The CAs of 7 stars are blue, which gives a nice impression, because of visible dust clouds around them. :lol::lol::lol: Nevertheless astro shootings are possible with this lens - but you must change program for this. Pay attention to vibration of the mirror. No sharp photos, if tripod is unstable or you've touched the camera. self activation of mirror some second before shooting stars is very usefull +++++++++++++++++++++ + good close ups with macro ring, stopped down to f 11 :fedup: totally 8.5 points and full recommendation :fedup:

It is a really a poor lens !!! Succeeding 4/300 of PENTAX lensens are much more better corrected - especially the new AF version. My worst lens of PENTAX, unfortunately. In contrast: the TAKUMAR 2.5/135 is so nice and well corrected :fedup::fedup::fedup: ================================================================ I've bought a similar SUPER ALBINAR 4/300, because of the high quality of my SUPER ALBINAR 2.8/135 (Sonnar copy) - both lenses with simple 5/5 and 4/4 construction seem to have at least one fluorite element therein, because they are much more better corrected (only very few CAs) and are extremely sharp at f8 - and these lenses are bagain. I can get high resolution with my Fuji x-T100 (24 MP) approx 75 LP/mm = 150 lack and white lines per mm with them - nearly professional values !!! :):):)

My TAKUMAR lens 3.5-4.5/28-80 with the production number 5706635 has the same 12//9 (not 8/8) optical design as the PENTAX one, rated in sharpness 2 points more. Really marvellous !!! :o:o:o (You can proof it by comparing reflexions of lens elements against the light of a single lamp, if you've got both of them like me). Is there big difference between the kinds of production or issues, i.e. 2 kinds of TAKUMAR ??? :fedup: Incomprehensible !!! :mad: + Indeed 28 is a few weak in the corners - 9 points only, stopped down to f 6.3-11, too - and some very small visible CA's if picture has been magificated to a big poster of 80x120cm = 32" x 48" (most wide angle zoom lenses - even the actual ones - have problems with sharpness and CA's in the corners - as f.e. trhe setr lens Pentax 18-55 at 18mm, too, but much more visible !!!) + very good sharpness in the corners with 28mm - 9 points, scarecely CA's (all values APS-C) ++ center sharpness is excellent at 28mm - 10 points - no CA's + at 50 mm very good corner sharpness - 9 points ++ excellent center sharpness with 80mm - 10 points ++ excellent corner sharpness at 80 mm - 10 points ++ close-ups excellent sharpness - 10 points ++ 1.7 x AF converter using with full AF function and 70 LP/mm resolution. Big difference between shooting with k-x and k-s1. - K-s1 results are much more better !!! (Outstanding with Fuji x-T100) :lol: My cameras are fitted to highest sharpness + 4, highest contrast + 4 Beside a small weekness in the corners at 28 mm an excellent lens. Fit your Pentax DSLC to highest sharpness, contrast and color saturation and youl get nice photos with this lens 9.5 points totally :lol::lol::lol: PS. with aperture f 6.3 you'll get 85 LP/mm = 170 black and white lines - this is a professional value - an often underrated lens, undoubtly. :):):)

Views: 526728 Reviews: 119 + Due to the good optical construction of 4 (!) achromatic lenses and 2 ED-lenses is the optical quality of this lens in the center very nice / fine.:):):) + I take photos with aperture 8-11, so bokeh and sharpness are nice in the center - but sharpness only in the center !:o:o:o, edges are somewhat weak, especially wiede open ++ very good CA correction at 55-70 mm O/+ CA's are well reduced and in the edges but a few visible at 300mm :fedup::fedup::fedup: ++/+ good colors, sharpness, contrast and bokeh with f 11 O/+ sometimes slow and not so shure AF for the low price nevertheless my recommendation !!! :):):) this lens is better than the new version 4.5-6.3/55-300, but not so good as the excellent 4.7-5.8/100-300 - which is my AF favorite My first exemplary of this lens was excellent, the next one was not so good - unfortunally, perhaps a few decentered :mad::mad::mad:

I fit all my cameras to highest sharpness and contrast + still good sharpness wide open ++ high contrast ++ excellent sharpness stopped down to f6.3-f11 ++ nice color rendition + very few CA's in corners with APS-C O some flare wide open against the ligtht ++ very quick and precise AF :lol::lol::lol:old lens - but excellent results with APS-C- highly recommended PS. :confused::confused::confused: The different ratings have espcially two reasons, obviously: 1 "open-aperture / bokeh fans" seem to be often not satisfied, because a normal lens must be stopped down a few for best results, Is it really so difficult to understand? 2. owners of K1 with full size sensor remark more weakness in the corners. May be. My rating 9.5 points for APS-C because of approx . 85 LP/mm center resolution at f8-11 with 28mm :):):) - self tested, this is a professional value, for serial number /1.952.012

Views: 155958 Reviews: 20 an often underrated lens ************************************ MY TIP: increase ISO up to 800 ************************************ :) a good allrounder, BUT YOU MUST STOP IT DOWN :lol::lol::lol: you must sharpen it a few and eliminate some CA's by Phsh. afterwards, big posters available. ++ nice colors, ++ very good contrast, + but some reflections sometimes visible against the light (have all super zoom lenses) O wide open at the extreme ends not so sharp and some visible CAs - especially in the corners ++ excellent sharpness between f 9-13 ++ very good sharpness from 50 up to 135 mm (nearly no CAs visible) ++ and excellent macro shootings with extension tube 36mm at f 11 in this zoom range possible:fedup::fedup::fedup: The difference between the SIGMA and the PENTAX 28-200 lens is due to better CA reduction of PENTAX, when stopping it down. So it seems to be very similar to the last TAMRON 371D 28-200 super lens, which is much more improved in relation to the earlier versions. For this big zoom range 8,5 points and full recommendation:):):)

My Takumar 3.5/35 was very fine, my Pentax 2,8/28 wonderfull, but this lens is nearly perfect. highly recommended - for this low price. PS. a few stopped down, the Pentax 2,4/35 is sharper in the corners than its competitors of other famous professional brands. *******************************************************************************************************************************************

Such a zoom lens never can be as sharp as a single lens like Pentax 1.8/50 f.e.. :lol::lol::lol: It is not a lens for open aperture, but for stopping down a few, naturally, in oder to get better results !!! Half or 2/3 points only for this lens in comparison with the competitors? - Oohh:o I've got earlier 1,8, some 2.0 and 1,4 and I've been satisfied with them. Between f 4-5,6 best results. Today I've received this new lens. Naturally, none of all produced lenses are not extremely sharp fully open. f1,8-2 sharp enough f2,8 very, very sharp - very nice bokeh f4-f8 extremely sharp - what a lens! :D:):):) no CA's until now. Hard test now:f2.8 and 1/1500 sec. with ISO100:sunset against trees. strong CA's feared. In the center really nearly nothing, but in the corners visible. Now f 6,7 1/250 sec for this extreme situation: nothing more. CA's disappeared. Full 10 points (perhaps some fluorite glass elements therein?) I'll try with f2,8 for stars... ps.a famous German test Newspaper gave very low test result for it - really incredible! Fortunately, The English www allows much more objective tests. SOME TESTs are made with SIEMENS-stars, some further with books, some other with landscapes and much sky or dark parts in the corners - the low rating of PENTAX lenses could be a result of less sponsoring? :lol::lol::lol: Now I've managed an own test table with scale - with a surprising result - more than 100 LP/mm = 200 lines/mm with FUJI APS-C 24 MP sensor. (80 LPmm with Pentax 20 MP) This is similar to ZEISS / LEICA level. (nearly same results as 2.4/35!) both highly recommended
