This is my second excursion into macro, photography. I first started with an after market 90mm true macro lens. I was not satisfied with the results to say the least.I purchased the Pentax lens a couple of weeks ago. I am about finished photographing, 50 years of collections from around the world. I am extremely happy with the results. THIS lens makes a swell walk around lens as well as a great macro lens. The IQ,sharp detail, color rendition, and all the other good qualities of this lens, make me realize that higher prices do not always mean better quality. I paid approximately twice as much for my first macro lens anf got substantially less value. I would recommend this lens to anyone needing the macro capability in a true standard focal length.

I have been a Pentax enthusiast since purchasing an old SF1 kit in the 80's. Recently I had a bad experience with a bad DA 300mm lens. I had some reservations when I purchased this lens. Now I am elated with its performance. I’ve had the lens since February and have been pleased on every shooting session. My physical location permits extra long range shooting. I can shoot the Caballo Mountains, NM, from my front porch. I have been able to get some extremely sharp images of the towers on the top ridge at a distance of at least 2,000 meters. Using map recon techniques it shows the 2,000 meters above. I have also been able to get some great shots of grazing animals at various distances. This lens is one of the best photo purchases I have ever made. Would I recommend this lens? HELL YES!!! :

This lens has become a favorite and accompanies me on all outings. I find it very useful indoors and outdoors. IQ is satisfying and I have taken hundreds of shots in the few months I have had it. This is a good lens from beginner to advanced level users. I bought This lens at a good price and they are cheaper now. Buy one and enjoy it.

I have used this converter with 3 F series lenses and all 8 of my DA series lenses. I am pleased with the results. Even the much older lenses worked well. I saw no change in AF and IQ remained unchanged. The DA series lenses gave similar results. All test I have done are merely eyeball. No measurements were taken. The converter is easy to use but be careful to follow instructions when mounting lenses and the converter. I am really enjoying the extra reach, I am getting from my lenses. Buy one and get the benefits of saving money on lens purchases.

After having a disappointing experience w/new Da*300, I decided to upgrade my SMC version to this HD model. I am really glad i did. First session produced about 60 top quality shots at more than 500 yds. All suceeding session were the same. All aperture settings produced good results. No really noticeable degradation at the various ranges. I feel that I got more than my monies worth and I would recommend this lens.

I am really disappointed in this lens. The AF was faulty out of the box. It worked fairly well at first but it didn’t take but about 20 shots when it failed to AF reliably. It only got worse from there. I tried to record a rare eclipse of the moon. AF failed function again. I did a sesion with a K30 to be sure it was the lens. The lens is now in warranty service and awaiting parts. If any member has had the same problem pm me please.I have been satisfied with PENTAX products since 1981.I hope to add a happy ending when I get it back. After 2 trips to Precision Camera for repair, extended parts delays, Ricoh Decided to replace the lens. Now for the good part, I am extremely happy with the replacement lens. After two sessions I had nothing but great results. IQ is superb.AF works like a charm. This new lens fits the bill of all the other great reviews.

I have used the lens for several months and it has yet to disappoint. I am well pleased with all aspects of the photos achieved. The size and weight make it easy to store in a pocket and make it very easy to handle when installed on the camera. It goes with me whenever I am out for a shoot. Focus speed is impressive. Of the five wide angle lenses I own, this is the most impressive.

I have used the lens for 2 weeks. Some portrait work but mostly landscape. I found the lens to focus rapidly with little or no hunting. Photos were exceptionally sharp with great resolution. Contrast is great. Size and weight make it easy to handle. I like the collapsable hood and the fact that it is stored on the lens. The price I paid was exceptionally good with two of these lenses still available on ebay. I would recommend this lens to anyone in need of this focal length.
