DA 70mm vs FA 77mm Limited

Autofocus

Both the DA 70mm and the FA 77mm lenses have non-internal focusing driven by the camera’s screw drive, so the autofocus results should be close; throw and weight should be the only key factors. In this section, we will examine the relative speed of the autofocus capability of the two lenses. Each lens was timed for its response time from minimum focus distance to infinity and infinity to minimum focus distance. The test was completed three times and the times were averaged to minimize errors. The results were then charted as seen below.

Conclusion

Overall the DA 70mm has a faster autofocus speed, but the FA 77mm lens has a slightly longer distance from infinity to minimum focus distance. The response time for both lenses was a little over half a second.
