Peak Design is a company with quite a following; vocal supporters and several success stories on Kickstarter. They offer products on the top tier regarding cost but also features and performance.

We really enjoyed our time testing the Slide strap and Capture Clip combo. Together, they make a flexible and adaptable camera support system.

There are always some compromises involved with the design of any product, and photographers can be very particular regarding their needs, desires, and the way they operate. It is obvious that Peak Design put a lot of thought in the creation of their equipment, making generally sound and logical choices. There are no cut corners, the choice of materials is top-notch and the results live up to expectations. As a system, the Peak Design approach is valid and effective. It is not unique in this, of course, but it is flexible enough that it should end up in most photographers’ shortlist.

Slide Strap

Pros

• High-quality, durable materials
• Comfortable
• Flexible attachment system, allows the use of a tripod plate
• Included plate is Arca-Swiss compatible
• Quick length adjustment system

 Cons

• Two-points system means strap is not secured if camera is removed
• Risk of scratching the camera LCD with adjustment buckles

Capture Clip

Pros

• Simple and effective way to hold a camera or accessory
• Almost endless possibilities for positioning
• Works well with the Slide Strap (or any removable strap)
• Solid attachment, prevents camera movement
• High-quality plate (especially with Pro version)
• Good attention to detail : multiple locks, tripod screw mount (Pro version)
• Included plate is Arca-Swiss compatible (though standard Arca-Swiss plates don’t fit)

 Cons

• Use on a belt without the ProPad is less comfortable, especially with larger cameras
• Somewhat expensive

Who is it for?

Anyone can benefit from an upgrade to the standard strap included with his or her camera. In this regard, the Slide Strap is a worthy option with very few flaws and numerous benefits. It is especially effective when used as a sling.

The Capture Clip is more of a unique product, with few comparable solutions. It is well adapted for active photographers.

Ideally, the two items should be considered as a system, since they complete each other.
