Pentax-DA 560mm F5.6 ED AW

Full Frame Compatibility

While originally marketed as an APS-C crop lens, with the release of the full-frame Pentax K-1, Ricoh Imaging stated that the Pentax 560mm also covers the full-frame image circle.

Pentax lenses compatible with full-frame as of April 2016

The K-1 includes a second set of lens correction profiles for the 560mm when it is used in full-frame mode.  These profiles can correct vignetting, chromatic aberrations, and distortion for full-frame images shot in JPEG mode.  Still, Ricoh added a disclaimer that states "image quality is not guaranteed beyond the APS-C image area".

We tested the 560mm on film and found that wide open, there is visible falloff that varies in size based on the focus distance.  Stopped down, the lens fares quite well.  Read more about our tests in this article.

Additional tests using the Pentax K-1 will follow once it is released.
