Pentax-DA* 50-135mm F2.8 Review

The value of the 50-135mm lens is a particularly interesting story because of recent changes in Pentax's pricing polcy, which you can read about on our homepage.  These changes went into effect in April of 2012.

In the US, the 50-135mm has an MSRP of $1499.95, but for years, both online and brick-and-mortar stores sold it for around $799 to $899.  The policy that Pentax USA introduced in April of 2012 forces online retailers to now list this lens at the full MSRP, and discounts will only be offered in-store or on the phone.

If you are looking for a good deal on this lens, check out our marketplace or, if you live in an area that has a Pentax dealer, give the store a visit. If there are no Pentax stores in your area, then call Adorama at 800-815-0664 and they should be able to sell you the lens for much less than $1499.95 as long as you insist on being quoted the in-store price.

Outside of the US, the pricing of this lens varies, but online, its true value is somewhere around $800-1000 new.  Don't be fooled or discouraged by the inflated list price.  Regardless of where you live, a new copy of this lens can be had for much less than $1499.  When shopping online, be on the lookout for hidden "in cart only" deals on this lens.
