Pentax KF Review

Pentax's DSLR line-up has been, for many years, constituted of three levels. There is one full frame, top-tier camera (currently the K-1 II). There is a flagship APS-C camera (the K-3 III). And there is a mid-level. Pentax never truly had an entry-level model, because even its most basic camera offers many features typically found on higier-tier units.

Pentax's cameras do not see yearly refreshes. This is particularly true in recent years, because the market is now more mature and improvements are incremental most of the time. Pentax's K-70 camera had been introduced in 2016. Even though not much has changed regarding sensors, body design or innovative features, the camera was due for a refresh, if only to update internal components before they reach their end-of-life.

This brings us to November 2022, when Pentax announced the new KF camera. In many ways, the KF is similar to the K-70 it replaces. Neither an entry-level nor a pro body, the KF offers a robust package at a moderate price.

At $696.95, the KF sits among the least expensive interchangeable lens cameras on the market, and is one of the few Pentax DSLRs introduced in recent years. In this review, we study the camera to evaluate its design, features, ergonomics, and performances. Read on to see what we thought of the Pentax KF camera!
