What's in the Box & Warranty

The Pentax Q-S1 box has seen a redesign compared to prior Q-mount boxes.  The updated design matches the theme of other Ricoh-era Pentax boxes such as those of the K-3, K-S1, and 645Z.  The Q-S1 box (pictured below) is grey, features a photo of the camera body, bears the Ricoh and Pentax logos, and has a big white "Q" designating the product line.

Two stickers on the side of the box indicate the body and grip color; the black version of the camera will be pictured on the box regardless of what color you order.

Inside you'll find the camera body itself plus the standard gamut of accessories:

• S-SW151 software CD (w/ digital camera utility 5)
• Q-mount body cap
• Serial number card and other paperwork

If you ordered the 02 lens kit, you'll also find the 02 standard zoom lens in the box, and photos on the box would depict the camera with the lens.

There are three changes of note when it comes to the paperwork.  First of all, the full manual has been replaced with a quick start guide that covers only key functionality.  The full manual is available as a PDF download here.  You can also download a PDF of the start guide. 

Second, a pamphlet that provides an overview of the Q-mount lens lineup has been added.  We find this to be a great marketing move, especially for users who are new to the Q-mount system.  The Pentax K-S1 includes similar pamphlets for K-mount lenses.

Finally, a new Ricoh-branded warranty information card is supplied.

Colors

The Q-S1 is available in 40 color combinations: 5 body colors (black, gunmetal, gold, white, silver) and 8 grip colors (black, red, white, brown, yellow, blue, pink, and green).  Four colors are regularly-stocked outside of Japan:

In Japan, the Q-S1 can be ordered with a 01 standard prime lenses that matches one of the 5 body colors.

Warranty

Ricoh Imaging's warranty coverage depends on the country in which you purchase the Q-S1.  International warranties are no longer offered in any region due to legal and practical complications.

• In the US, the standard warranty is good for one year.  2 additional years can be purchased for just $19.95* within 30 days of your camera purchase.
• In Canada and Europe, two years of coverage are included.
• In Australia, the warranty is good for one year, like in the US.

Please check with your local Ricoh Imaging dealer or representative for warranty information in other areas.

*this extended warranty is valid even if you originally purchased the Q-S1 from a different US authorized dealer.  The only requirement is that you keep your receipts, and that the warranty card is purchased within 30 days of the camera body.  No registration is necessary.  If you meet all these requirements, then click here to order you extended warranty.  It is not an issue if you take delivery of the warranty card outside of the 30-day window, as long as it the order was received and processed within that window.
