Pentax Q Review

Field of View Comparison

The images below were taken from the same vantage point and illustrates the range of field of view which is covered by the Q lenses. The images are JPGs straight out of the camera except for reduction in size. Lens distortion correction was set to on (the default value).

Field of View - Prime Lenses

The prime lenses cover a good and useful range. The wide angle lens disappoints with its pronounced barrel distortion whereas the telephoto lens, although marketed as a toy lens, performs well. The standard prime has some distortion but that is corrected to perfection by the camera's distortion correction function when shooting JPG (the distortion correction does not work on RAW files). Field of View - Zoom Lens

The 02 Standard Zoom covers a range corresponding to a 28 - 85mm lens in the 24x36mm format, and 18 to 55mm in the APS-C format. In other words this zoom covers a very popular and useful range. The lens exhibits some distortion but that is corrected perfectly by the camera's distortion correction function when shooting JPG (the distortion correction does not work on RAW files).
