Value: 10
Camera Used: K-01
| | Looks Iike I found the true 3rd copy.
I don't think the previously reviewed lens was this exact model:
1. Minolta mount
2. has the aperture ring in reverse direction
3. doesn't have green macro scale
4. too short a focus throw
5. no front photo to confirm
Mine looks identical to both top photos *except* macro only goes to 1:4.5, not 1:4.
This one came with an old Ricoh KR-5 Super film SLR that cost a total of $40 a few years ago.
Tried it out on my K-01 with very good results.
Shot wide open at f2.8, as no manual switch for aperture.
I didn't really want to give it 10/10 but I just couldn't fault it optically, on aps-c at least.
If it was an "A" lens, it would be the perfect sleeper!

| | I guess I own the 3rd and last lens then.
Mine has a Minolta mount (unlike the K mount mentioned in the description above) but easily converted for use on my camera using an adapter.
I took a gamble on this lens as I paid quite a lot, after reading the reviews below I just had to see for myself (I really wanted a great 28mm). I'm glad I did as they're correct. It's pin sharp, gives pleasing colours. I'd never heard of this manufacturer before, but I'm guessing it's a rebranded ... something, as the optical quality is superb. Good for macro work as well. Bokeh is pleasing.
Might be different on full frame but I'm using an aps-c sensor. Would recommend it at twice the price!
Edit: Should mention mine doesn't have the 'macro' green text on side of the lens like the main one pictured. Has the same front nameplate text though. Still takes excellent close up shots though. Also love the fact it only takes about a quarter turn to focus at any distance. Photo added.

I must own the only other copy of this lens
Bought off an online auction site with absolutely no expectations, images viewed at full resolution reveal excellent detail.
If you see one of these (unlikely) (very) grab it, it's ridiculously good at any price.

| | What a hidden gem!
This was my first K mount after purchasing my K to Canon EF adapter, I bought this lens on a whim since I wanted something in the 20-35mm range.
If you're like me you have no clue who Promura is and there's very little information online.
I was shocked as to how well this lens performs, it is sharp wide open at 2.8 and killer sharp by F4. I mostly use it wide open!
It can go past 0.3 meters and focus at 1:6-1:4 without the need of macro tubes. There's minimal I mean tiny light loss at 1:4 (I can barely notice anything, never have to change exposure).
It handles flares very nicely, phenomenal when it comes to chromatic aberrations. I've seen none noticeable in my pictures! I've even tested it by shooting wide open at chrome objects in direct sunlight.
Bokeh is creamy and pleasant, nothing showstopper or unique but really nice!
Build quality is stellar, has a great weighted focus throw.
Cons: Only one is that it's six sided aperture blades are not rounded, by 3.5 you can see the six sides. If you shoot wide open your bokeh balls will be rounded. For the most part at 3.5 they will still be roundish, but F4 you see six sided balls.
NOTE: lens was tested on a crop digital body(Canon 10D), have no clue how the edges perform on a full frame or on film.
