Diameter: 80mm (lens body without tripod collar and friction knob). Inner diameter of included case 85mm.
Length: 210mm (with front and rear caps on); approx 240mm with hood extended.
Weight: 1350 grams (approx).
This lens is a true constant f/3.5 aperture from the brass-and-glass era and it shows in the weight, hence the tripod collar (it is twice as heavy as my Vivitar f/4 80-200 in K mount). It is JUST manageable hand-held. Image quality is good for a zoom of the era, and at f/3.5 it really isn't that much slower than the fast (f/2.8) zooms of today. As stated in the dimensions, it comes with a built-in hood.
The most interesting feature of this lens is the macro collar, which is separate from the zoom and focusing controls and acts as an inbuilt extension-tube system, enabling macro (or at least VERY close focus) capability at any focal length of which the lens is capable. So this is a lens that is quite literally suitable for both the birds and the bees.
Mount Type:
M42 Screwmount
