| | Since I bought this beauty 1/2 Year ago it is obviously my favorite Lens for Pentax full format ...
Came to it over my Sony a7R IV / a9, where I used my old Contax Zeiss 25mm 2,8 , 28mm 2,8, 35mm 2,8 and Planar 50mm 1,7-
liked always the beautifully cinematic neutral colors and updated with the 25mm 2,0 ZE ( heavier, but magical ) and also the Batis 25, 18, and 85mm ... (They play another League of Class , AF and lightweight ) but I finally find a like New Copy of this now rare and costly Zeiss ZK 25 2,8 It is a bit better than the Old Contax one from 1977 ( witch has minor corner sharpness and more vignetting)
I Tested it against the Pentax FA 31 and the K 28 f2 Hollywood ..
It behaves like the K 28 f2, but with Auto Aperture and Neutral colors, sold the FA 31 and never regret this ...
For color Pop I always use the K28 Hollywood but for HDR Landscapes I prefer the Zeiss.
You have to try one out to realize, what is possible in terms of Resolution, sharpness, Light handling, Flare Resistance, Aberration, Microcontrast... Bokeh is in this wide Angle only for narrow Objects a theme and that functions very well ;-)

| | wow - just wow; this is just an amazing lens.... how is it this versatile and capable?
mine is a used copy, with OEM caps and hood, purchased here on the PF Marketplace, and is near-mint condition...
now, buying a Zeiss lens brings all kinds of expectations with it, especially a newer lens like this one....
it should be sharp, the colors should be accurate, it should be able to do pretty much anything you ask of it, etc....
this lens does...
it is a close-focusing monster - you can pull off near-macro levels of focus (it will focus down to about 6")....
colors are a breeze for it - I threw everything I could at the lens, all month long, and it pulled amazing colors everywhere...
bokeh is beautiful - smooth transitions where you want them, crisp defining subject lines...
only one downside that I can really point out - it's heavy.... period... that's it.. a bigger/heavier camera like a K-1 may balance it out a bit better, but if you're shooting anything less than a full-frame camera, you will want a battery grip on the camera for better handling...
oh... and the shots: cherries by Pepperberry Farm, on Flickr sunset, tall grass by Pepperberry Farm, on Flickr southern field by Pepperberry Farm, on Flickr ladybug by Pepperberry Farm, on Flickr spring storms by Pepperberry Farm, on Flickr
in short - an amazing lens to add to your kit....

Aberrations: 9

| | Handy little lens. Quality construction with lovely Zeiss colors and micro-contrast. Longest focus throw of any of my lenses - great for accurate manual focus.
I've shot most of the Zeiss lenses on my K1. This is my favorite Zeiss wide angle lens.
The Zeiss 21mm lens (I owned 2 copies) has more distortion then this lens which I don't like.
Sharp, but certainly not the sharpest of the Zeiss wide angle lenses.
Optimum apertures are f/11 - f/16 on the K1 - F/8 on the K3
Set it at f/2.8 on either the K1 or K3 and shoot a subject 2 - 6 feet away for a nice 3D like effect. Good bokeh.

Pros: | Colors,sharpness,quality | Cons: | Price | | I love the colors and build quality.
But my old SMC-A 24/2,8 has better micro resolution and lower distorsion.
But they are both great lenses.
As all Zeiss T* lenses it has very high contrast which many confuses with
resolution. It is NOT the same thing.I prefer the higher resolution than high contrast.
