Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
Sharpness: 9    Aberrations: 9    Bokeh: 9    Handling: 10    Value: 9

Many 50/1.4 manual focus for SLR are very good: Canon FDn, Pentax A, Nikon AIs, Minolta MD-III for example.
But the Contax Zeiss is the Best.

Sharpness is already acceptable at f/1.4 (rare), very very good at f/2.0 and excellent at f/2.8. Flare is very reduced (Zeiss coating was one of the best back in the eighties). Minimum distance is adequate (0.45m), aperture and focusing rings are very nice to handle. Weight is moderate.

This lens does not compare with modern day Zeiss lenses.

I owned this lens and after a few months threw it away. It's performance was so poor that I would not consider selling it to an unsuspecting buyer.

Sorry, but I'm not at all impressed with this lens.

Pros: Sharpness, color rendition, build quality
Cons:
Sharpness: 10    Aberrations: 9    Bokeh: 10    Handling: 10    Value: 9    Camera Used: Pentax K-5, K-1

I used this lens back in the film days with Contax gear and have kept it to this day, using it on Pentax crop and full frame sensor. Leitax K-mount adapter was a no-brainer.
Note: To be able to convert it to K-mount with a Leitax bayonet, you need the MM version of this lens, those are tho ones that got the green digit for the smallest aperture on the ring (16 on this one).
Sharp, contrasty, great colors, beautiful bokeh, great and silky smooth handling. It really breathes quality in both handling and images. It´s joy to use and the only drawback would be a slight CA wide open, witch is easily corrected in PS. Stopped down to 2.8 , it´s totally gone.
Great lens. Recommended.
