Pros: | sharp, close focus distance, weight and size, bokeh wide open | Cons: | bokeh when stopped down | | This lens is a bit special. I use it most time when I take b/w-photos. I don't know why, but it is my b/w-lens. The IQ is fine, just the bokeh is a bit nervous when you stop down maybe caused by the just 5 aperture blades. Wide open it is perfect. The handling is fine although not as good as older Pentax-lenses. Close-ups are also possible. 0.35m are a nice range to handle with. A nice lens for just a few money!

Pros: | Nice bokeh, light and compact, sharp, min. focus distance of only 1,2 feet | Cons: | rather slow; buildquality not as good as M- or K- series lenses | | Certainly a nice lens and useful. However, for my taste, 2,8 is not fast enough while the depth of field is sometimes too large. I like it when being able to have just a tiny amount of sharpness present in a picture. Otherwise the lens performs very well and I do like the "look" of the bokeh. Buildquality is OK; just not as solid as the M- or K- series lenses from Pentax. No ca problems, just the usual lack of contrast when taking pictures directly in sunlight.
My copy came with a Practica camera and it says on the lens: "T 2,8/50 aus Jena DDR". Must be the same lens, but then made for Practica.

Pros: | German design and quality | Cons: | M42, need Pentax Adapter, a bit slow ...... | | A wonderful 50mm Prime lens. Not super fast at F2.8 but a happy performer outdoors. This lens will not focus to infinity with your standard cheap and cheerful Chinese adapters. So you will need to splash out on a Pentax adapter.
Quite light, but not as compact as other similar SMC-Pentax style lenses. Like all manual lenses this one has qualities all its own. Full focus travel is 225 degrees from infinity to 35cm. The aperture ring and focus are "silky smooth" on my copy .........Lots of fun to take out and play. Not super fast but capable of some nice shots.
Can be very sharp stoppered down. I enjoy the 'quiet nature' of this lens, quality glass and a very good performer.
Recommended........go and get one.......!................. | |
