| | Great lens with character for use on mirrorless cameras. Super lens. When it came on the market in East Germany, it cost as much as two photo bodies. The lens is a cheaper and newer successor to the legendary Carl Zeiss Pancolar 1.4 / 55mm M42 for a significantly lower price, but still has some of its character. Better is the first version of the pracar 50mm f 1,4 lens with an inscription on the side and a slightly yellow lens.It is always more rare in the market, so its price is rising. | |

Pros: | Sharp, bokeh, colors, focus throw, f1.4 ... "non" destructive modification, reversible with a CZJ 50/1.7 donor lens mount | Cons: | f1.4 focus challenge ... loss of far focus & infinity with modification | | Bonjour,
Just a quick entry here into the CZ (J) database of a Prakticar "B" mount lens that I modified to PK fit. Not difficult at all, much like modifying a Yashica C/Y mount. Pick this lens up at a swap meet for a song ...
Sharp at f2 - f2.4, smooth focus, hefty lens full of a lot of glass ... and after modification, far-focus will be limited and infinity is lost due different registration distance. This limitation and/or "loss" did not matter to me, since I plan to use this lens for close-focus and portrait type applications. Not much beyond 2.5 meters or so ...
Please note that I removed the electrical contact assembly and the 2 screws which retain it in place so that the lens fits better upon the K-5 mount ... thus, the 5 holes on the images of the back of the lens (close group of 3 holes then 2 for screws)
I will post samples later, and "first test" impressions are quite good! Salut, John le Frog
EDIT : Here's a few images from the garden ... mostly wide open except for last one. All straight out of the K-5 (SOOC) with no PP ...
PPS - Lens still works full manual on my BC 1 and other PB bodies (B 200, etc.) ... | |
