Pros: | sharp, beautiful bokeh | Cons: | it is Contax/Yashica mount | | There was the time when I had four 135mm lenses: Contax Sonnar 135/2.8, Leica 135/2.8, Pentax K 135/2.5 and Meyer 135/2.8. I compared them and decided to stay with Sonnar, which was the better in any aspect from all other. This lens has beautiful, creamy bokeh. It is sharp enough at f2.8 and very sharp at f4. Color and contrast rendition is exceptional. Lens has build-in hood - nice feature. Overall very good 135mm lens. Only drawback for Pentax user is conversion from Contax to K mount.
It is great portrait lens

Pros: | Sharp, colors | Cons: | | | Whenever I start shooting with this lens I wonder why I'm not using as often as I could or should.
Great color rendering, sharp, good built-in hood, perfectly usable at 2.8 on my K30.
Would be awesome with a shorter minimum focus distance.

| | I´d bought it after reading this test: http://forum.mflenses.com/twelve-2-8-135mm-lenses-compared-on-5dmkii-t39463.html
It is very sharp and it has better bokeh than my Pentacon 135/2,8 with 15 blades apreture. But ther were one problem! I´d to buy Leitax adapter and it´s rather expensive with add sending and custom. | | | | New Member Registered: April, 2020 Posts: 6 | Review Date: November 21, 2020 | Recommended | Price: $280.00

| | One of my favorite 135mm retro lenses. Classic Sonnar bokeh, sharp, flare resistance in the sunlight, 3D.
Built to last. True Carl Zeiss. My sample is MMJ version. | | | | New Member Registered: March, 2024 Posts: 3 | Review Date: March 16, 2024 | Recommended | Price: $175.00

Camera Used: Sony A7R5
| | Note: I don't currently own a Pentax digital camera, so these comments are made from adapting the lens to a Sony A7R5.
The 135 f2.8 is one of the most affordable Contax lenses, and it was one of the first I purchased to go along with my Contax RX, which was a bit of an impulse buy.
I have to admit that having owned a number of vintage 135's from Pentax, Yashica and Olympus I confess to not having high expectations BUT this is a really lovely lens and well worth the investment. I am using the Sony A7R5 and was impressed overall.
What I like about it:
- Good sharpness, even wide open
- Rather pleasing bokeh
- Overall handling is outstanding. The aperture ring has just the right amount of tension, and the focus ring is very nicely damped.
What I am not so impressed by:
- Purple fringing around bright highlights when wide open. This is fairly easy to remove in post.
- Minimum focus distance is 1.5 metres. This is probably the worst aspect of the lens - it has to be said that the image quality is great at the minimum focus distance.
I guess if you are after a vintage 135, this is probably the one to consider, especially when the price is taken into consideration.
