Pros: small lightweight
Cons: focusing distance

Bought this lens yesterday on the flea market. Never knew Casio to make SLRs, yet alone in the K-mount but here it is. For that price, I couldn't really go wrong, besides, I needed a cheap 50 to put on my K1000 when I go on vacation, so that I needn't be worried about it being stolen.

Long story short, I mounted the lens on my K-5 and shot a few pics of my sister in a café, wide open. First shots were soft, as I expected. I took a few more shots and they were tack sharp! turns out, it was part focusing error, part my lively sister moving all the time.

I snapped on my F50/1.4, dialed in F2 and shot a static picture, then the same with the Casio wide open and they were nearly identical!

From the inquiry here on the forum, it seems to have been made by Cosina, but nothing is sure. Googling does not reveal any casio SLR information and the supposed Cosinon-S 50 F2 does not seem to be as good a lens. I shall try to post some pictures when I come to a computer with the SDHC reader, in the meantime, take my word for it, this lens for a good price is not a disappointment.

Rating it 8 but pending possible edit as I get to know this baby better.

EDIT: Very surprisingly, the Casio beats the F50/1.4

The Pentax exhibits quite a lot of colorful fringing and the resolution is a bit lower (both shot at F2) The lower resolution of F50 might be due to the autofocus. I, however had the autofocus calibrated and have full confidence in it. Nevertheless, the casio is impressive wide open. Changing my rating to 9, as it deserves it.
