| | What can you say? Cosina make Zeiss and Voigtlander lenses. I have other Cosina lenses that are excellent. This is an old style, multi coated 50mm lense offering all the advantages of an f1.4 lense with a Pentax K mount. This lense comes from the days when camera manufacturers put much time and energy into producing great 50mm lenses since they were often the only lenses people used with their camera and the lense would be reviewed along with the camera. Even wide open, this lense delivers smooth and surprisingly sharp images. For most people, I imagine this would be popular because they want the extreme depth of field and the chance to use handheld in poor light (at concerts for example with a cut down sensor APS-C DSLR). I have also been happy with the results using it with a reversal ring for old-style macro shots. I have shot done with this of a Border Terrier if you're interested ... uploaded to pentaxforums.com
If you see one, get it. With Pentax FA 50mm f1.4's costing £450 new, these are a great, cheaper option. I have the FA f1.4 too. I prefer this for manual focus and more control over what is in focus with so little depth of field

| | Now about 40 years old, the mechanics still operate satisfactorily. The bayonet is black anodised aluminium. This may prove a small problem, as it does not conduct and may make the camera think no lens is attached. The aperture ring does not have half stop settings. The iris is 8 petal, and still work ok.
Optically the front lens multicoating has a beautiful gold sheen, no signs of the lens combinations breaking up, due to the cement failure. The performance seems on a par with a Pentax A 1.7.
