Pros: | It's wiiide. very sharp stopped down | Cons: | Exaggerates lines if not held absolutely level | | For the money I think this lens is a good value. One does have to keep the camera absolutely level to get good results. I'm not a pixel peeper so I haven't looked closely at the edges or corners. Tilting the camera up will cause distortions so I shoot a two or three image panorama which Lightroom straightens the verticals. I don't find focusing a problem as I just set the infinity mark at the ƒ stop I'm using and let the DoF take care of itself. This is my first lens review so forgive me if I'm not overly critical. | |

Pros: | ultra wide angle, sharpness (from 4,5) focal that did not exist in pentax | Cons: | too big and heavy to travel light | Sharpness: 9
Aberrations: 9
Bokeh: 7
Handling: 5
Focusing: 10
Camera Used: Pentax K1
| | Is the Pentax 15-30mm or this Irix 11mm better? The Pentax is much more versatile, the irix frames what the Pentax cannot, it is a choice. Both are not in the bag but not because of the quality difference. Only for weight. | |

Pros: | intelligent construction, center sharpness | Cons: | low edge sharpness, CAs | Sharpness: 7
Aberrations: 3
Bokeh: 5
Handling: 9
Focusing: 8
Camera Used: Pentax K-1
| | I just tested this lens on my K-1.
First of all here is a direct size comparison to the competition in PK: Pro: - widest option available; can replace shift lens up to 17mm
- price/value
- excellent center sharpness, better than Laowa when wider than F8
- adjustable infinity setting
- click for infinity setting
- gel filter option for NDs
- semi weatherproofed
- light weight
- Irix offers lens correction profiles on their website
- full electronic mount with focal length data transferred and "A setting". Even has own lens ID to identify lens in software.
Con: - weak edge sharpness makes it fully usable only at F8. At F11 the center already deteriorates
- quite strong CA, even though its easy to correct in software
- large and clunky compared to Laowa 12mm
- fixed hood
- no screw in filter option like Laowa 12mm (e.g. CPL)
- no cheaper 100mm square filter option like Laowa
- plastic build
- a stop slower than the Laowa
- no aperture ring
At F4 (full 36 MPx res on flickr):
At F8 (full 36 MPx res on flickr):
I think it is a good lens as such, but I hoped for more image quality. If they edge sharpness had been better I'd had kept it alongside my Laowa. Edges (see the trees on the left side) at F4 and F5.6 are a bit of a let down. And from a ultra wide angle I do require good sharpness from F5.6 into the edges left and right.
If you are on a budget and cant afford the Laowa then I think it is a very good option to check out.
