Pros: | Cheap, good IQ | Cons: | Heavy and quite clonky | | (When reading this, please don't forget it's only my opinion about a single sample of the lens.) A big, heavy and quite clonky telephoto lens. With the crop factor, it’s a 300 mm on my DSLR, requiring good light conditions to shoot at comfortable shutter speeds. Hand held, the results are often so-so, even with in-camera anti-shake system, so susing a good tripod would help. Unhappily, there’s no collar to secure the lens to the stand, and the rear of the barrel is not large enough to touch anything else than the M42 to P-K adaptor ring. It’s a bit frightening with such a heavy lens ! There’s a M/A selector, but it’s a ring instead of a simple switch, so it’s common moving it when focusing, stopping down or carrying the lens. The good thing is it focuses down to 1.8m, allowing nice close-ups on flowers without disturbing a butterfly or a bee. That’s mostly what I do with the JP-21. Jp-21+Praktica MTL5B+ ISO200 Fujifilm | |
