This lens is no the brightest, but f/2.2 is not as bad, just a 1/3 less than f/2, but what it has is a very special spherical aberration wide open that makes the shots very soft but almost with a glow how soft it renders up to f/4. If you stop it down further it is sharp enough, but what you can do with the lens between f/2.2 and f/4 is almost magical. The close ups of flowers have an exquisite soft rendering, landscapes becomes almost pastels, portraits becomes Hollywood-esque in a glamorous style you could spend hours in Photoshop to render. Don't get me wrong, this is not a great normal lens for those walkaround, do it all it all lenses that renders sharp at every aperture, but correctly used you can do some great photography, things you will have to spend a lot of time to do otherwise and get specialized lenses. The aperture scale is just clicked for full stops, not half stops. Otherwise small and light, with unfortunately a rotating front lens as you focus. https://www.pentaxforums.com/gallery/images/115239/large/1_DSC03990-landscape.jpg
