I found this in a lot of other camera equipment I bought for resale at auction and was going to re-sell it...however I figured I'd mount it on my K5 and give it a go before putting it up for sale.
After loading the images on to my PC...I was pleasantly surprised...in fact, a bit shocked. This little lens is SHARP! Even wide open! Granted...wide open is f/4 at the wide end, and f/5.6 at the long end...but still...even with most kit zooms in this aperture range you need to get to f/8 or f/11 to get a good sharp picture. I took it back outside and took some more test shots, comparing it with some other lenses I have. At the same apertures and focal lengths...this lens matches my Tamron 28-75 in sharpness, contrast, and color rendition!
This lens is identical to the Tamron 28-105 f/4-5.6...it's probably the exact same lens just re-branded. Judging how that lens got such high remarks...I can see I've found a nice little sleeper of a lens here. This little gem has found a permanent home in my bag. I'm giving it a 9 based on it's cost/performance ratio...you can find these things dirt cheap so if you can get one...give it a shot! | |
