Cheap lens with macro @ 300mm
macro switch can only be engaged at 300mm, and allows for close focusing.
disabling macro (and changing zoom) requires focusing farther (back to non-macro ranges)
The lens is slow in low light, requiring use of flash alot.
purple fringing is apparent in many shots.
Zoom is tight and smooth between 70-135, but from 135-300 it changes stiffness at various points
the quantaray caps aren't very good
front cap has low contact/pinch area and wobbles
rear cap one part of the screw ring broke during shipping
the quantaray barrel has some wobble room on the different barrel segments, most noticeable on the autofocus adjustment segment.

its very hard to figure out which version of the lens the quantarays are :\
There are at least 2 different quantaray 70-300 LDO macros
gold/yellow lettering ? may be the nice Sigma APO 70-300?
zoom and focus rings have significant spacing on the elevated rubber stripes
green lettering (the one from this review)
zoom and focus rings have crosshatched/crisscut grip (remind me of LCD RGB pixels)
based on weight, macro only @ 300mm, and Low Dispersion Optics designation
i suspect it's the Sigma 70-300 DL Macro Super
