Latest Review Posted | Lomography Daguerreotype Achromat Art 64mm F2.9 Let's just get this out of the way first: You are not buying this if you want super-sharp shots. Right? Right. Okay, moving on.
I was also a Kickstarter backer and in addition to the lens/hood/basic aperture plates I got the orange filter, leather case, extra aperture plates, sample photos, etc. It was really fun to open the package and check out all that was inside. I haven't found much use for the orange filter yet, and I would have picked other shapes for some of the aperture plates (actually I DID pick other shapes - we got to vote - but only two of my four choices won!).
Really, really love the opportunity to get perfectly round bokeh.
I like using it much better on my K-01, because of the focus peaking.
I have shot a kids' play with it, and I've taken it on the Staten Island ferry at sunset, and I've taken it to a downtown area with a lot of Christmas decorations (all those twinkly lights for background bokeh!). I got some quite respectable results in all of those situations.
You have to want to use it; it's not something to throw in the bag just in case. It's heavy, and you have to haul the aperture plates around too, so the bag-space-taken-up-to-utility ratio is kind of high. But I like it and I'm glad I have it. This is another lens that I wouldn't use for high-stakes shooting, but it's really a lot of fun. |
